Installation and Maintenance of High Gloss Tile Flooring
Installing high gloss tile flooring in a luxury bathroom requires meticulous preparation, careful laying, and proper grouting.
Preparing the Subfloor
Before laying the tiles, ensure the subfloor is level, dry, and free of any debris or imperfections. Use a leveling compound to smooth out any unevenness, and allow it to dry completely. A moisture barrier may be necessary to prevent moisture from seeping through the subfloor and damaging the tiles.
Laying the Tiles
Use a thin-set mortar specifically designed for high gloss tiles. Spread the mortar evenly over the subfloor using a notched trowel. Carefully place the tiles onto the mortar, pressing them firmly into place. Use tile spacers to ensure consistent spacing between the tiles.
Grouting
Once the tiles are laid, allow the mortar to set for the recommended time. Mix the grout according to the manufacturer’s instructions and apply it to the joints between the tiles using a grout float. Use a damp sponge to remove excess grout and smooth the joints.
Maintenance
To keep high gloss tile flooring looking its best, regular cleaning and maintenance are essential. Use a mild detergent and a soft cloth to clean the tiles, avoiding abrasive cleaners or harsh chemicals. Seal the tiles periodically with a penetrating sealer to protect them from stains and moisture.
